Start without installing a payroll application
Open the calculator in a current browser, choose the week and enter your working periods. No installer, extension or account is required for the calculation. The explanation and frequently asked questions remain readable even when JavaScript is disabled, although the interactive calculator needs JavaScript to run. This page is useful when you need a quick summary on a device where installing an application is inconvenient. It does not provide employee management, automatic attendance collection or access to an employer’s payroll system behind the browser interface.
Understand what staying in the browser means
The page’s code is downloaded when you open it. Entered clock times, break values and rates are then processed locally rather than submitted to a calculation server. Local storage remembers this tool’s card on the same browser profile. That is different from cloud storage: another device will not automatically receive the entries, and clearing site data can remove them. Shared computers deserve extra care because another person using the same browser profile may see locally saved records. Export or reset the card according to your needs.
Move a card deliberately between devices
Use Copy full card link when you want to transfer the current entries. The records are compressed into the link fragment after #s=, rather than placed in the query sent with a page request. This avoids sending those records as part of the ordinary request URL, but it is not encryption: a recipient with the link can read them. Settings-only links carry options such as week count and hourly rate instead of individual punches. Review the type of link you copy before sharing it with someone else.
Keep the underlying calculation visible
Each completed period contributes its ending time minus starting time, less any unpaid breaks inside it. Earlier ending times mean the following day, and incomplete pairs are flagged instead of guessed. Add separate periods for split shifts, with no second deduction for a lunch gap already outside work. The first period defaults to 30 unpaid minutes, so review that value. Totals appear as hours and minutes and as decimals: thirty minutes is 0.5 hours. The table gives other useful fractions for checking a spreadsheet result.
| Minutes | Decimal hours |
|---|---|
| 15 | 0.25 |
| 20 | 0.33 |
| 30 | 0.50 |
| 45 | 0.75 |
Use options without treating them as payroll advice
The default overtime estimate evaluates hours above 40 in each fixed workweek, separately even in two-week mode. Daily and combined options are simplified alternatives, while None disables overtime. Optional rounding operates on net daily or overall totals, not individual punch times. The calculator performs arithmetic and does not decide exemptions, compensable breaks, tax deductions or state-law compliance. Confirm the inputs and rules you actually need before using the estimate in an official process; a convenient online interface does not remove that responsibility.
Take a copy before leaving the device
Download CSV stores an ordinary file with numeric decimal hours. Copy summary gives tab-separated rows, while Print makes a paper-friendly report. These actions let you retain the result outside browser storage without signing up. The site does not promise that browser storage survives cleanup, private browsing or device replacement. Nor does it promise an offline installation or service-worker cache. If you need the result later, export a checked copy now rather than assuming reopening the page on another device will restore it automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to download an app?
No. The interactive calculator runs in a current browser with JavaScript enabled, and no installer or account is required. It does not provide an installed offline application or employee attendance service. The instructions remain readable without JavaScript, but you need JavaScript for entering periods and seeing calculated totals.
Will my card appear on another computer automatically?
No. Local saving belongs to this browser profile on this device, rather than an online account. To move a card, download a file or copy a full-card link and open it where you want the records. Anyone with that link can read it, so choose recipients with care.
Can I use this on a shared computer?
You can calculate in a compatible browser, but locally saved entries may remain visible to another person using the same profile. Export a checked copy if needed, then use Reset to remove this tool’s saved card. Avoid leaving a sharing link in a place where unintended recipients can read it.
What happens if I have not clocked out yet?
An unfinished period is marked incomplete and excluded from the total until both times are valid. Leave the clock-out blank while you confirm the actual ending time. The calculator does not run an attendance timer or guess when you stopped working. Other completed periods continue to count normally.
Can I download the result for a spreadsheet?
Yes. Download CSV gives you individual periods, decimal hours, hours and minutes, and totals. The decimal-hours column contains numbers suitable for spreadsheet calculations. Copy summary produces tab-separated rows for pasting, while Print gives a readable report. Check your times and breaks before using any exported figures for payroll.
Do I need an account, and where are my entries saved?
You do not need an account. Calculations run in your browser, and entries are saved locally on this device rather than uploaded. A full-card sharing link contains the records in its fragment; anyone holding it can read them. Export your own backup before clearing browser storage or switching devices.
