Rounding applies once to daily totals by default, or once to the overall total when selected. Both overtime mode uses the higher estimate; it does not add the two. This is arithmetic, not state-law compliance, taxes or payroll advice. Method & limitations.

Decimal hours are the column to use in your payroll sheet.

This time clock calculator converts manually entered punch times into working hours. It is designed for reviewing an existing record, with a weekly layout and optional pay estimate.

Use a clock record as your starting point

Read the clock-in and clock-out pairs from the record you want to check. A printed ticket, exported report or handwritten correction may show the same day in different formats. Enter one continuous period at a time and keep the sequence recognizable. This calculator starts in a weekly view; it does not connect to a clock terminal or retrieve employee records. If a punch is missing or unclear, verify it against the original source before completing the entry. Blank periods remain outside the total.

Translate the format without changing the time

Use 9:03 AM and 5:07 PM, or enter 09:03 and 17:07. Compact entries such as 903 and 1707 are accepted, while a bare 5 means five in the morning in 24-hour time. Add PM when you mean the afternoon. Watch the transition around noon: 12 AM is midnight and 12 PM is noon. If the source uses a special code for absence, paid leave or a corrected punch, do not type that code into a time field or assume it represents working time.

Separate clock punches from payroll rounding

A clock system may already have rounded the times on a report. Decide whether you are checking the original punches or the adjusted payroll record, and use the matching inputs consistently. This tool rounds net daily or overall durations when you select an interval; it does not apply a seven-minute rule to each arrival or departure. Applying another layer of rounding to adjusted times can produce a result that no longer matches either source. Leave rounding off when your purpose is simply to verify the arithmetic of an existing report.

Treat breaks and overnight records consistently

An end earlier than its start is interpreted as the following day. A 22:00 to 06:00 period has eight hours before unpaid breaks. Equal times count as zero, with a warning, rather than a full day. A break inside a period is subtracted only when unpaid and deduction is enabled. When a lunch clock-out and return are entered as separate pairs, their gap is already excluded. Change the first period’s default 30-minute deduction to zero if that lunch is fully represented by the gap.

Compare weekly totals and decimal hours

The results show hours and minutes alongside the decimal equivalent. Use the minute total to compare with clock records and decimal hours to calculate a rate-based estimate. Forty-five minutes is 0.75 hours; it is not 0.45. Default overtime is calculated above 40 hours within each selected fixed workweek, not above 80 across two weeks. Daily and combined options are simplified arithmetic estimates. This calculator does not determine whether a specific person, break, activity or overtime payment satisfies applicable law.

Keep the review separate from official attendance

Download a CSV or copy the rows after checking each completed period. Printing gives you a readable record to discuss with payroll, but it does not amend the employer’s system. Now buttons, when enabled, insert a local time into a field; they do not submit an official punch. Entries stay in this browser unless you intentionally export them or share a full-card link. Use an attendance system when you need approvals, employee identities, an audit trail or records shared automatically between people.

Frequently asked questions

Is this connected to my employer’s time clock?

No. You enter times manually, and the calculator does not retrieve or update any employer record. It helps check arithmetic from an existing clock report. Now buttons only fill a local field with the current time; they do not register attendance, notify a manager or create an official punch.

Should I enter rounded punches or original punches?

Choose the source you want to check and stay consistent. Original punches let you verify elapsed time; adjusted punches let you reproduce an existing report. Leave duration rounding off when the source has already been adjusted. This tool does not implement rounding rules applied separately to each individual arrival or departure.

Can I enter AM/PM and military time?

Yes. Entries such as 9:03 AM and 5:07 PM work alongside 09:03 and 17:07. A compact value such as 1707 means 17:07, while 903 means 09:03. Bare hours use 24-hour interpretation. Check noon and midnight carefully: 12 AM is midnight, and 12 PM is noon.

What happens if I have not clocked out yet?

An unfinished period is marked incomplete and excluded from the total until both times are valid. Leave the clock-out blank while you confirm the actual ending time. The calculator does not run an attendance timer or guess when you stopped working. Other completed periods continue to count normally.

Can I download the result for a spreadsheet?

Yes. Download CSV gives you individual periods, decimal hours, hours and minutes, and totals. The decimal-hours column contains numbers suitable for spreadsheet calculations. Copy summary produces tab-separated rows for pasting, while Print gives a readable report. Check your times and breaks before using any exported figures for payroll.

Do I need an account, and where are my entries saved?

You do not need an account. Calculations run in your browser, and entries are saved locally on this device rather than uploaded. A full-card sharing link contains the records in its fragment; anyone holding it can read them. Export your own backup before clearing browser storage or switching devices.
